MUCH MORE THAN THE SUM OF THE PARTS
"Much more than the sum of the parts” is an ode to unity and patriotic sentiment. This piece was conceived in times of the pandemic, during lockdown. Isabel Englebert returned to her native country, where she was completely secluded in the countryside. She observed how the pandemic situation did not just isolate individuals, but entire regions. Divisions and groups were generated within the country, who looked suspiciously at each other. For some time, it seemed that Argentina was composed of parts separated from each other, individual regions completely partitioned.
The spirit of this work is to rescue national unity, understanding that we do not represent separate parts within a country. We are all individuals living on the same soil, under the same sun, sharing the fruits and opportunities of our land. We are part of a whole.
A whole in which each link is interrelated with the others in a very intimate and close way. Just as each element that makes up this piece is linked to the others, giving rise to a new form, which is much more than the sum of the individual elements.
These links are represented by the metal, such a noble and eternal material, and the groups which are superimposed, are represented in acrylic, which lends its translucent quality, to give a sense of merge.
A holistic encompassing and unifying composition. The forms that make up this piece are abstract and pure, establishing a link with the morphological composition of the Neo-Geo. Geometric abstraction, the simplicity of the shapes and the linear character are the protagonists. The compositional elements are synthetic signs that refer to the concept that is being transmitted, with a strong retinal impact that generates aesthetic admiration.
